]]>Texas Tamale Fest/ Cookoff hosted by ( HCCO ) Hill Country Cookoff Association of San Marcos TX and Hays County Judge Mr.Ruben Becerra.
An event where tamale cooks can set up and sell their tamales.
Where tamale cooks can set up and compete for prize money on the best tamales.
Where tamale lovers can come and taste tamales.
20 teams participated in the cook off.
The event included the the Ay Chihuahua Beauty Pageant and Tamale Eating Contest.
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes out to Cynthia Rodriguez Cerda of Houston Texas on her First Place Tamales

Event proceeds benefitted families dealing with cancer.

]]>Photo moments from the -- A Washa for Kenshasa Comedy Benefit Show at the Ground Floor Theatre in Austin Texas.
Show proceeds benefitting the Kimbondo Orphanage (Phase II Foyer House Renovation).
The Kimbondo Orphanage is located in the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Currently, the overworked staff oversees the HAND washing of 75 sets of clothes a day!
Money from the benefit will help purchase a new, industrial-strength washing machine for the Kimbondo Orphanage.
Talent showcase lineup included:
Ava Love Hanna: award-winning storyteller, poet and playwright
Christine Hoang (w/Leslie Lozano): award-winning playwright and Doper Than Dope Fly Girl
Tristan Mercado: Best of Fest winner and one of Meryl Streep’s personal faves

E. Austin's Tejano Trails now National Recreation Trail

]]>City & East Austin Community partner to celebrate the Federal Designation of East Austin’s “Tejano Trails” as National Recreation Trails.

Designation by the US Department of Interior creates more opportunities for the Tejano Trails to showcase a community dedicated to preserving its cultural history. These trails highlight historic properties as well as local art commemorating Tejano Music Legends.

The two trails are the Tejano Healthy Walking Trail and Trail of Tejano Legends.
