Becker Elementary School (located in Bouldin Creek neighborhood) participated in Austin’s 3rd Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour 2011. Many visitors stopped to see the Becker Community Chicken Coop which is managed by Becker 5th grade students.



The Austin Funky Chicken Coop Tour (held in partnership with Sustainable Food Center) encourages city residents to raise chickens at home by demonstrating ways that chicken housing can be blended into urban settings within city laws and noise abatement concerns.



Becker Elementary School also features a Dual Language Program, Community Garden/Green Classroom and Art Classroom.
