PODER (People Organized in Defense of Earth and her Resources) coordinated a Justice40rward Toxic Tour & Community Conversation designed to connect frontline, communities of color, & areas of low income directly with Agency staff and members of the Biden Administration to lay the groundwork for critical investments to come to their communities.
PODER partnered with WE ACT for Environmental Justice, in collaboration with members from the Environmental Leadership Forum, to host this regional tour as part of their Justice40rward Campaign.
The Toxic Tour enabled State agency staff, local political representatives and members of Biden Administration to visit communities regarding housing affordability and sustainability, clean energy, fuel storage, water access, transportation and mining.
The Community Briefing at the Montopolis Recreation Community Center (1200 Montopolis Drive) included recap presentations on community priorities and conversation for the Justice40 Initiative.
The overarching goals of the community tour and Community Briefing was to raise awareness of Justice40 available funds in the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act; spotlight community advocacy and environmental justice leadership; and engage with city, county, state and federal officials to ensure IIJA/IRA Justice40 investments reach communities that need them most.
