HISPANIC QUALITY OF LIFE INITIATIVE - TOWN HALL MEETING

HISPANIC QUALITY OF LIFE INITIATIVE
Thur 05/16/13

Here are a few moments from the Town Hall Mtg for the HISPANIC QUALITY OF LIFE INITIATIVE (HQLI)

The Hispanic/Latino Quality of Life Initiative began as a Council resolution in 2008 that sought to measure how Hispanics were faring in relation to other Austin residents as well as other Hispanic/Latino populations in selected cities across the country.

The HQL Initiative received direct input through a series of community forums and surveys, and resulted in a report with a list of initial recommendations.

As part of its outreach to the community, the Oversight Team held a town hall meeting in City Council Chambers to give the community a preview of the draft report as well as to solicit feedback as the Team nears completion of their work.

The seven-member Community Oversight Team was appointed by the Mayor & Council to review these recommendations, and to research relevant demographic, trend and data analysis, and to compile this information into a final set of recommendations for presentation to the City Council and the entire Austin community.
